The King And I

At Menlo School, May 2005

"The King and I" was the spring outdoor musical in 2005, staged on the oval-shaped grass area in front of our school, with the main historic building of our campus, Stent Hall, as a backdrop. The spring production is typically our biggest production of the year, and this was no exception. We even had costumes custom-made in Thailand and shipped over. I was one of two spotlight people positioned on raised spotlight towers with a headset that let me communicate with the other tower and the lighting booth down below. This was one of the highlights of my sophomore year. Drama has been a very good experience for me: I have gained an appreciation for the music and the artistic aspects and for the complexity of organizing this many people into a show, and directing them.
